Fishing Trips

Our inshore fishing trips are conducted in the Wando and Cooper Rivers and also along the Inter Coastal Waterway and in the numerous creeks and flats adjacent to the Salt marshes that are transitional areas between the land and water. We also consider Charleston harbor Inshore fishing. The salinity of the water in these areas varies from near ocean strength to near fresh in the upriver marshes. Because these marshes are influenced twice daily by tidal flow they are subject to rapid changes in salinity, temperature, and water depth and our fishing is done using the tides as a reference to water flow. Best times to fish are the 4 hours after about 1hr. past high tide and the 4 hours beginning 1 hour past low tide. This of course allows maximum water flow and the movement of the baitfish that of course are stalked by the predators that we are after.

We use different methods for catching the inshore fish different times of the year. In the winter months artificial bait works well. We normally like to cast small jigs with plastic tails or use flies if you are a fly fisherman.  Top water plugs are also great.  Of course live bait works well during the entire year. With the live bait we use a float rig, drift rigs, and boat rigs. Best bait are shrimp, mullet, mud minnows, menhaden and cut bait.

We supply all of the tackle and bait but if you have a favorite rod you are certainly welcome to bring it along. We have Lamiglas spinning rods and Shimano Reels. A Fishing license is not required.

Our target fish:

  • Spotted Sea Trout
  • Red Drum
  • Flounders
  • Sheepshead
  • Black Drum

Our near shore fishing trips are conducted seaward of the demarkation line from the north and south entrances to Charleston Harbor and out to about 20 miles. The Jettys, an area called the Grillage, and the many offshore reefs both live and artificial offer the structure and hiding places for the numerous species of fish that inhabit these areas.  Primarily we are bottom fishing here. But we also so some trolling of artificial and live bait and cut bait. Naturally this type of fishing is more weather dependant and often we have to turn a near shore day into an inshore day due to sea conditions. The best time of the year is April through October exclusive of periods of storm systems.

Of course we use hefter rods and reels and line for these fish as they run much larger in size than inshore. We also do some downrigger fishing in the mid day as the fish go deeper to escape the sun.  Chumming and drifting is also a very good method for certain species. Near shore fishing does not follow the tidal flow patterns as does the inshore fishing. Dawn and Dusk are the best times to fish here.

We supply all of the tackle and bait. A fishing license is not required.

Offshore Fishing Charters

On our offshore fishing charters get ready for some" reel screamin" action. We go out to the Gulf Stream, that warm current of water flowing northward along the coast of the Eastern United States, and home to many migratory species of fish. This is where you find the billfish, Blue Marlin, White Marlin, Sailfish, Dolphin or Mahi-Mahi, Wahoo, Tuna, and Kingfish.

The action out here starts in April and continues through November. These fish are migratory and go north in the Spring and back south in the fall. And many stay in this area all summer long too.

We also fish many of the notable offshore reefs near Charleston. Commanche Reef, The Garden, the Ledge, Charleston 380 hole.

All of the fishing equipment is included and our boat is tournament qualified and ready just in case you want to fish in a tournament. All of the bait and soft drinks is supplied. We try to limit the number of fisherman on board to 4 for the maximum fishing experience for all. Normally this is an all day trip departing at 5:00am and returning at 5:00 pm.
